The Claydon family have been direct drilling their 500 H/A farm for 4 years now and we have had some fantastic results. Firstly we used to have 4 tractor drivers each undertaking different cultivation operations in order to establish our 500 H/A farm using traditional agricultural techniques. Now and for the last 4 years we have had one driver, one tractor and one 6m Claydon Direct Seeder establishing not just our 500 H/A of land but also an additional 1000 H/A of contact farm land. In 2005 we established all 1500 H/A in a very short 500 tractor and man hours. Most interestingly our yields have not dropped, compaction has become a thing of the past and our soil quality and fertility has improved significantly, not to mention the obvious cost and time savings we have experienced from using our technique.
