We at Claydons are striving to improve our products constantly. We soon became aware that the rigid front tines in the Claydon V Drill would pull out stones if they’re present in the soil. This was a big problem for some farmers in the UK and many across Europe.
After many months looking into how to overcome this problem we decided that there was no feasible way to incorporate any form of stone protection into the V Drill, so we would need to overcome this problem in a whole new machine.
We decided that this machine should be made as perfect as possible. So we reconfigured the entire design onto a square chassis with double tine spacing to allow for extreme clearance. This machine will clear more trash than you would want to drill into!
Larger versions will become available in the future. Watch this space!

The power requirement for this model remains at 50hp per meter. With a 150hp tractor and a 3m SR drill you can still easily drill 50 acres / day** - not bad considering you won’t need to go over the field again! A 1000 acre farm can easily be established in 200 engine hours, leaving you plenty of time to go and earn some extra cash by doing some contracting for your neighbours who are not so far ahead of the game!
**Now also available - 3.45m and 4m models - details shown in the table below.
The SR Drill still works on the same seeding principle as the V Drill in that the front tine breaks out the soil, the second tine follows directly behind the first tine and lifts the tilth whist injecting the seed, then a press wheel and/or covering harrow follows up behind to ensure good soil to seed contact and seed coverage.
