Claydon Open Days

It was a sunny Suffolk welcome for all those who attended the Claydon Open Days at the company headquarters this year.

Presentations centered around Claydon optimum till for optimum crop establishment and the importance of effective stubble management.  Crop tours showed how even in this time of drought, Claydon drilled crops are able to cope much better with weather extremes, tapping into the moisture available in the banks of unmoved soil.  On demo were the 6m Hybrid mounted drill and TerraStar. A soil trench showed how Claydon drilling encourages deep rooting and alleviates compaction.  There were even a few worms to be found in the pit even though the sun and drying wind had sent most of them into hiding.   Claydon drilled fields are level fields.  The chassis and two tine design grades out ruts, peaks and shallows to make a surface so smooth you can travel at 25km/h with a straw harrow for optiimum results.  You can also use Claydon drilled fields as a runway to land a plane - see here -  https://vimeo.com/217459749 and also take off - click here!  https://vimeo.com/217460696

The first time in many years that the Open Days have been held entirely at the Claydon farm and factory, the 150+ visitors were a good test run of the new facilities – and it all seemed to go very smoothly!

It was great to catch up with existing customers and talk to agronomists, dealers and those new to Claydon. Thanks to all those who attended – including a minibus of farmers from Yorkshire, hosted by J Wood and Son, and visitors from Belgium, Sweden and France.

We’ve had some great feedback and positive comments from visitors so far.  We also have an online questionnaire.  If you attended one of the sessions we would be grateful if you would take a couple of minutes to fill out our feedback survey to help us improve for the next one. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

And don’t forget, you don’t need an official Open Day invite to come and see us – we welcome visits on an individual basis at any time of year – just give us a call to arrange on +(0) 1440 820 327.
