NEW LAUNCH T3 and T4.8 at LAMMA

NEW T4.8

Seen for the first time ever in public at LAMMA 2017, the new 4.8m Claydon Hybrid T4.8 extends Claydon's range of trailed drills to five models, covering working widths from 3m to 8m.

Incorporating the patented Claydon in-line tine system, this super-efficient strip-till drill is designed to meet the needs of larger farming and contracting businesses which require high outputs combined with the ultimate in flexibility to tackle any crop establishment situation.  With a typical daily output of 35ha, the T4.8 has a suggested seasonal output of 1200ha and a power requirement of 250hp.

The T4.8 can be used to deliver seed only from its 3500-litre hopper, which can also be divided 60:40 to enable a combination of seed and fertiliser to be delivered to the 15 long-life tungsten carbide leading tines that eliminate compaction, aerate the soil, optimise drainage and create tilth for the seeding zone. The seeding tines which follow create additional tilth and place seed at the optimum depth, above the drainage channel. This highly-effective system encourages deep, complex rooting structures to develop quickly, which minimises soil erosion and produces stronger, healthier crops with improved yield potential.

Simple, strong and with huge capacity, the T4.8 measures 8.72m long, 3.3m high and has a road transport width of 2.95m, its design ensuring that in the field 50 per cent of the weight is transferred to the tractor to maximise traction. With a low power requirement of 50hp to 65hp per meter, it incorporates a minimum of moving and wearing parts for low running costs, features quick-fit wearing metal to minimise maintenance and incorporates solidly sprung seeding tines for even drilling depth.

Running on three large, centrally mounted depth wheels fitted with cleated tyres which run on clean, dry, uncultivated ground to ensure excellent depth control and avoid soil capping, the T4.8 features a floating seeding chassis which is independent of the hopper. This design enables the drill to follow contours and level fields, providing ideal conditions for crop establishment and following operations.

The front of the chassis is guided by shouldered cutting discs or the optional press wheels, while the double rear toolbar can be equipped with a range of press wheel, batterboard and harrow configurations to fully cover the seed and leave the soil smooth and level.

Weighing approximately 6000kg, the T4.8 features intuitive controls, is equipped with single-point depth control and includes, as standard, a stainless-steel Claydon metering system and an RDS Artemis control system which provides variable rate seeding capability. The specification also includes a hydraulically-driven fan, tramline kit and double rear toolbar.  Options include GPS-controlled variable rate seeding, fertiliser placement, front tool bar with press wheels or shouldered cutting discs, vision kit (comprising three work cameras and four work lights), stone release system, twin-tine kit and marker arms.

NEW T3

Also being launched at LAMMA is the new 3m trailed T3 drill (see here in action).  “An increasing number of customers, both in the UK and overseas, have requested a trailed version of our popular 3m mounted Hybrid drill,” Spencer Claydon, Commercial Director, states. “We believe that the new Claydon Hybrid T3 will provide exactly what they have been looking for by offering the ultimate in flexibility to tackle any crop establishment situation. We will also offer a kit to enable customers who already own a 3m Hybrid M3 mounted drill to convert it to the new trailed specification, which will further increase its versatility.”

With a typical daily output of 20ha, the new T3 can establish up to 700ha of crops per season behind a 150hp tractor. The drill is supported on the lower link arms and incorporates a 2455-litre hopper which can be used for seed only or divided to provide a 50:50 split between seed and fertiliser.

Measuring 6.6m long and 2.5m high, the new model incorporates support wheels with 10.00/75-15.3 deep-cleated tyres that run on clean, dry, uncultivated ground to ensure an even seeding depth. With a transport width of 3m, the T3 has an unladen weight of 2650kg, is equipped with single-point depth control and features, as standard, a stainless-steel metering system and an RDS Artemis control system which provides it with variable rate seeding capability. The standard specification also includes a hydraulically-driven fan, Claydon-designed metering heads for improved flow and seeding accuracy, together with a tramline kit, while the range of options include GPS-controlled variable rate seeding.

The front of the chassis is guided by shouldered cutting discs or the optional press wheels, while the double rear toolbar can be equipped with a range of press wheel, batterboard and harrow configurations to fully cover the seed and leave the soil smooth and level.

Like other models in the Claydon Hybrid range the T3 and T4.8 can be adapted to whatever the customer requires to suit different crops and conditions. They can choose the standard tine set-up, a twin-tine option instead of the rear seeding tine, have fertiliser placed down the front or rear tine, can replace the leading tine with a cutting disc, or change the seeding tine for the twin-tine kit and replace the leading tine with a twin cutting disc.  They will sow directly into stubble, in min-till situations or on ploughed/cultivated land, across the widest range of soil types, conditions and crops, enabling any crop establishment situation to be handled with just one drill, at a much lower level of capital investment

Both are on show, along with lots more from Claydon's range of machinery, at LAMMA, the UK’s largest farm machinery, equipment and agricultural services show.  LAMMA is FREE to attend with no requirement to register before the event.
